Congratulations to Paul Beggin, school counselor at Mahtomedi Middle School, who was recently recognized by the Mahtomedi School Board for outstanding leadership at Mahtomedi Public Schools. The Mahtomedi School Board awards recognize the leadership and contributions staff members across our district are making to advance our strategic plan.

Principal Jackie Collins gave the award presentation and shared several ways Mr. Beggin is living the strategic plan. During her presentation, Ms. Collins shared how Mr. Beggin is student-centered and helps students discover and pursue their interests and passions. He is known for having high expectations for students and creating support systems to help students be confident in their abilities. As a school counselor, Ms. Collins shared that Mr. Beggin uses research, data, and best practices to support students, colleagues, and parents. “He is an academic advocate, gives tough love when necessary, pushes kids to challenge themselves, and is not afraid to offer a dad joke, and he does all of this because he believes in kids.”
