Please know that a planned field burn at O.H. Anderson Elementary School may occur as early as Sunday, November 5, or during the week of November 6, based on weather conditions. When the burn takes place, it will not be during school hours.
This is a planned burn and is being organized and supervised by the Edge Ecosystems and Washington Conservation District with grant funding provided by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Washington Conservation District. Thank you to the OHA Garden Club and advisor Amy Finden for their work on this project.
A field burn will rejuvenate and enhance native plant communities, reduce invasive species, improve wildlife habitat, remove dead biomass, reduce risk of unplanned fire, and increase available nutrients in soil.
Although burns are planned to occur during weather conditions that cause the least adverse effects, there may be a short period when smoke is noticeable.
