We have had an amazing start to the school year! There is a lot to be grateful for as we are wrapping up Homecoming Week.  Students at MHS recently shifted from Advisory Period to Flex Time.  Advisory will continue to run every other Friday with Flex Time operating on all the other days.  I stopped by a few Flex Time sessions last week and was able to see Culinary Club, Robotics Team, Spirit Club, and Chill with our Therapy Dog, Brewster. Students were engaged and able to participate in activities that they find joy in.  We have seen our flex time opportunities expand over the last year, as students are able to advocate for student-initiated clubs and activities.

Last Friday night at the home football game, our school community presented a check for over $6,500 dollars to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund.  It was an unbelievable effort by our students and families to rally together for a great cause.  Ms. Gillund and I set the bar at $3,000, and the amount raised certainly surpassed our expectations.  As a result, our Student Leadership Council (SLC) students earned the chance to throw a whipped cream pie in our faces.  It was a mess, but the students were happy to see us participating, as well as their efforts being rewarded.

As part of our Homecoming Week festivities, high school students visited Wildwood and O.H. Anderson elementary schools.  Over the last two days, we have had over 50 students connect with our youngest learners at WW and OHA. I’m incredibly proud when our high school students set an example as positive role models in our community AND bring joy to others!
